2020 : ROMAN REIGNS VS DREW MCINTYRE ( WHO WAS BETTER )
2020 was a year full of surprises not only for the whole world but also for WWE in particular.
No one ever thought that hard pushed top babyface Roman Reigns will be the top and the best heel in the industry and no one expected Drew McIntyre to get a gigantic push as a Face.
In this list, we will talk about the 2 most influential WWE world champions in the industry in the year.
So let us begin the list by citing reasons for both of the superstar to claim the year for themselves.
DREW MCINTYRE - WON THE ROYAL RUMBLE
It was evident at the beginning of this year that Drew McIntyre 'The Chosen One' is the next big thing in WWE when he claymored Brock Lesnar out of the ring and eventually won the Rumble.
He became 4th guy after Batista, Orton and Nakamura to eliminate Roman to win the Rumble.
While Roman may have some very big victories in his life, but in this year Drew was the one who took away 29 other men.
ROMAN REIGNS - HEEL TURN
Finally, fans got what they demanded from years. The WWE universe became tired of Roman as the top babyface and start turning on him in wish to turn him heel. But late is better than never and Vince finally listened to them.
After turning heel Roman has uncovered his best prospects and is now over the fans and is the best show seller for SmackDown.
DREW MCINTYRE - CONSECUTIVE VICTORIES AT WRESTLEMANIA MAIN EVENT IN A SINGLE YEAR
Most of us know about this. Drew McIntyre defeated The Beast Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 clean without any interference or low blow or any other nasty move.
The fans were happy about this, but to add more to this they revealed that he pursued an open challenge nearly 20 minutes after the original main event and defeated The Big Show in a dark Main event, which was revealed on next episode of Monday Night Raw.
ROMAN REIGNS - FEUD WITH JEY USO
I can't state that if it was the excitement of Roman turning heel or it was genuinely a very good feud.
Personally, the feud over 2 PPVs and dominance after that has made Roman the top prospect of WWE.
When everyone was angry on the officials to book Jey Uso to face Roman despite The Fiend and Braun Strowman already in the scene. But gradually in the build-up, everyone began to invest in their feud, and the result was iconic.
DREW MCINTYRE - BENEFITTED WITH ORTON
Randy Orton is one of the most experienced wrestlers currently on the Roster and no one can doubt about his ability to put over another wrestler in a clean fashion.
Drew McIntyre too got many benefits after locking horns with Randy Orton.
They first crossed path when Orton chose him to be his next opponent.
They fought in singles action at 4 different occasions ( wiz Summerslam, Clash of Champions, Hell in a Cell and go-home edition of Survivor Series ) and rest is history.
ROMAN REIGNS - FINALLY A FULL-TIME MONSTER HEEL AFTER YEARS AND ALLIANCE WITH PAUL HEYMAN
WWE spend years investing in Brock Lesnar as the top monster heel in the industry. And it simply can't be denied that there is not a beast like Brock Lesnar, but he often loses his credibility just because he was not working full time like other wrestlers.
Now you may ask what about Braun Strowman? I feel that Monster among men was used to dominate relatively smaller guys in a squash match and his other jobs were to flip a vehicle. He wasn't able to defeat Brock, Seth and many more guys and also suffered defeats from Sami Zayn, Baron Corbin and even Kalisto.
But when it comes to The Tribal Chief Roman Reigns, no one even tries to mess with The Head of the Table which gives him a lot of control.
Talking about Paul HEYMAN , he has been seriously benefited by an advocate by him.
DREW MCINTYRE - COMPLETING THE BABYFACE LOOP OF WWE
Yeah, after John 'The Super' Cena started getting backlash from fans in 2010. WWE has not been able to get a top babyface who gets cheered from fans.
Daniel Bryan filled the spot but was soon taken off from live television because of his injury.
Several mid-card faces like Dean Ambrose, Shinsuke Nakamura, Rusev, ( James Ellsworth😂😂 ) got some great cheers but no permanent main eventer face like Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins was able to fill that role.
Finally, Mcintyre is doing that.
ROMAN REIGNS - THE HOT TOPIC
Whatever you can advocate about Drew being greater than Roman. But no one can deny that Roman Reigns became the reason for hot topic between fans and universe and made them tune into Fox Sports on Friday's to watch Smackdown.
After Roman Reigns turned heel, he has been on the lips of everyone and everyone begins with him whenever WWE is mentioned.
He is transitioning to a guy that non-wrestling fans know of.
He is adding up to a list of names like Hulk Hogan, Undertaker, The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H, Randy Orton and John Cena who got the most mainstream exposure from WWE.
So that was our list for today, kindly knock us in the comment section about who you think ruled this year.
I shouldn't be biased as an author, but my vote goes to The Big Dog, The Tribal Chief, The Head of The Table, Wreck everyone and Leave, Show Up and Win, The Powerhouse Joe Anoa'I Leakee ROMAN REIGNS.
I Like The Scottish Psychopath Drew McIntyre too.
Isn't that a lot of nicknames?
Thanks,
Regards
I am totally fond of Roman Reigns as a heel
